Pine Island Sound is located in Lee County, Florida, lying between Pine Island and the barrier islands of Sanibel and Captiva Island, and Cayo Costa, which separate the Sound from the Gulf of Mexico. Pine Island provides a unique fishing experience thanks to the inlets, channels and canals around the Mangrove forests that surround the island. The habitat is also home to a varierty of other plant and animal life.

Southwest Florida has some of the best backwater fishing in the state. Backwater fishing is angling in the extensive network of bays, mangrove islands and tidal creeks that permeate the region. Roaming these waters are four of the state's most sought after gamefish, the snook, redfish, spotted seatrout, and tarpon. Thousands of anglers come to southwest Florida each year for the chance at a grand slam, catching one individual of each species in one day.

Darrin is a local that has grown up on these waters and was able to find fish even when they didn't want to be found. We traveled from Pine Island to Sanibel over to Cabbage Key and Captiva Island by South Seas Plantation. Can't wait to get back out to the beautiful southwest Florida waters!

Darrin was a first class fishing guide. He really went out of his way to put us on fish. He had the patience to deal with the inexperienced and handled himself in a very professional manner. I will be using him again and will not hesitate to give his cards to any who ask. I will be posting a link for you on my page as well. Thanks again Darrin, my family had an amazing time!!
